Poison in the Well

Poison in the Well is our most dramatic attempt to tackle high-level concepts like temptation, moral decay, and accidentally finding yourself in a cult after joining a yoga studio. The song is somber, full of metaphor, and probably makes us sound smarter than we actually are. Sarah wrote the song in a period of humorlessness a few years ago when certain people got together and stopped making any sense. It's a reminder that bad choices and good choices are sometimes conflated when the lighting is right. Give this song a listen whenever you're feeling certain about anything.

Poison in the Well (Marcotte)

Devil knows where to find people with souls to sell
First ones standing in line, hear the stories he tells
“Do unto others what’s been done to yourselves”
Poison in the well

Raise your hands to heaven, fall down to your knees
Close your eyes, there’s nothing here to see
Inside these four walls live secrets we can’t tell
Poison in the well

Honey on your lips
Fire in your blood
Taste is bittersweet
Is this who you thought you would become?

The power of the tempest bends you to its will
Stand at the water’s edge, drink til you get your fill
Why give to the devil a soul you can save yourself?
A soul you can save yourself

A soul you can save yourself
Poison… let the water run clear
Poison… let the water run clear
Let the water, let the water run clear
Let the water run clear
