Why We Make Sound

Our songs are created through a chaotic process in which vibrating strings, vocal folds, and emotional instability combine to produce complex waveforms. These waveforms propagate outward until they collide with listeners, who may experience a variety of reactions such as “Huh?” “Cool!” or “Please stop.” All of our songs are original compositions that tell stories about minor personal failures, mid-level frustrations, and the kind of existential dread that can only be cured by a large infusion of chocolate ice cream on a cold Wisconsin winter evening.

We sing about relatable anxieties that ask very little of you, which is why we call it the “Lower Your Expectations” sound. Think acoustic music with occasional bursts of “Oh Oh,” and a lyrical focus on self-deprecating storytelling. We aim for three chords and the truth; sometimes we miss.

Sarah’s voice is golden. Bill tries his best. Together, they sing stories of interpersonal SNAFUs, personal annoyances, and impersonal worries. If you enjoy slightly off-key harmonies, the ambient noise of a string slowly retuning, or persistent question marks regarding rhythmic patterns, you’ve come to the right place. We promise to be better than the background music at a metal scrap yard.
