Marilyn Singer, in her book MIRROR MIRROR, explores reversible poems, which can be read either forwards or backwards. Each reading tells the "same" story but from a different point of view. In a musical context, we created a melody that can be sung both forwards and backwards at the same time. Bears in the News tells the story of Goldilocks from her point of view when read forward, and from the bear's point of view when read backwards. Marilyn has graciously given us permission to post this musical setting of her poem. You can see the idea of the reverso-poem from the brief excerpt below.

You can find the complete poem here. If you look and listen carefully you will see that we have changed two phrases from the original, replacing "Goldilocks claimed" by the more rhythmically compatible "She said" and replacing "They shouldn't have left" by "They should never have left."
